Beautiful Resolutions for 2024
Every year, just about all of us make New Year's Resolutions.
Sometimes we discuss them with friends or share them on social; sometimes we keep them to ourselves (I mean, do people really need to know we've resolved to floss more than once a month?).
But whether we proclaim them loudly or not, our Resolutions are important. Because they reflect the urge to better ourselves and, by extension, the world we interact with on a daily basis. They're a way to take stock out of who we are, and how close we are to the person we'd like to be. Not to get religious about it, but they're almost a kind of prayer. Dear self...help me do better. Of course, religions have regular services, bells, and chants to help you stay on the path all year long. Resolutions, on the other hand, have New Year's Day...and that's it.
But what if we could change that? What if there was a way to keep our resolutions in front of us, so we could be reminded every day to say, go outside for a bit? To call our mom? To cook dinner for our friends? And what if, when we got that reminder, it didn't show up in the form of yet another to-do list (full transparency: there are four on this writer's desktop right now)—but was instead something beautiful, something pleasurable and inspiring to look at?
That was the idea that led to Beautiful Resolutions: a series of inspiring New Year's Resolutions made into works of art. Our team, known for their high-quality retouching services and e-commerce imagery, brought these resolutions to life. Delivered to the world in the form of a suite of desktop and mobile wallpapers.
Use them as your backdrop, and you can be inspired every time you turn on your smartphone or sit down to work. Change them up every month, and you have a year's worth of potentially life-enhancing reminders helping you Make More Beautiful in your life, and in the world.
The resolutions themselves were sourced from View Imaging employees. We wanted to avoid anything too specific (i.e., "actually finish David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest"), and we steered clear of "don't" statements (i.e., "don't eat so much fast food", "don't text after 11 pm"), because outside of Journey's Don't Stop Believin' there's not much inspiration to be had from being told not to do something. We were left with twelve messages that we hope are pretty universal, and applicable whether you're an introvert or the life of the party, whether you work from home or from downtown. We then gave these twelve messages to our creative team led by Donerik Dela Cruz and let them work their graphic magic. We wanted the finished wallpapers to be works of art in and of themselves, but also not clash with whatever apps, documents or downloads you have on your home screen. A tall order, but we think our team came through (as they always do...thanks fam!).
We hope you'll download the collection and share it with your friends and coworkers. Together whether it's captured in fashion photography, high-quality retouching, or just daily snaps; we can use the next 365 days (aka 2024) to Make More Beautiful!
